The 2007 Subaru Forester SUV is available in two models, the 2.5 X (with a Sports and L.L. Bean edition in the line) from $21,195 and the 2.5 XT (Sports and Limited editions) from $25,995.
The 2.5 X models are powered by a 173 hp, 2.5-liter Subaru Boxer engine with 166 lb-ft. of torque at 4,400 rpm. With all-wheel drive, an anti-lock braking system that includes technology to better distribute brake force, and an advanced air bag system for comprehensive protection from front-imact collisions, rear child-safety door locks, and ring-shaped reinforced frame body structure, the Forester is safe and steady. Cargo capacity is 68.6 cubic feet.
The XT models are powered by a 224 hp, 2.5-liter DOHC inter-cooled, turbocharged engine delivering 226 lb-ft. of torque at 3,600 rpm. With all the safety and control features of the X models, the XTs have dual-stage heated front seats, leather-trimmed upholstery, and a 155-watt, seven-speaker premium audio system with six-disc, in-dash CD changer and MP3/WMA player.
Fuel economy on the 2.5 X is 22 mpg city, 29 highway with a manual transmission; 23/28 with the automatic. At the top of the line the 2.5 XT Limited returns 20/27 with the manual and 21/26 with the automatic, making the 2007 Subaru Forester an excellent choice for the fuel-consumption conscious buyer.
