The Audi Q7, which is a sports utility vehicle, was introduced in the year 2006. The Q is a new line of Vehicles that Audi has come up with the 7 meaning that it is vehicle that comes between the A6 and A8 versions of the Audi. The Q7 is available in both gasoline and diesel versions. The vehicle is available in two types, base and Premium. The gasoline versions are powered by 3.6 l V6 and 4.2 liters V8 engine, whereas the diesel version is powered by a V6 engine. For the model year 2007, Audi introduced a new six Liter V12 engine, which can do 0 to 100 miles per hour in 5.5 seconds. All Q7 models are available with four wheel drive.

The V8 models can seat 7 passengers where the third row in the SUV is standard. The third seat in the V6 Models is optional. All Standard Versions of the Q7 are equipped with 18 inch tires, bi-HID headlamps, the rear door of the SUV can be power opened and a music system from Bose which has a 6 CD player attached to the dashboard. In the premium version one gets 19 inch tires, a navigation system, and a system with a camera in the back that helps one park the vehicle, heated seats for all passengers, and a satellite radio. All these Premium features can be ordered for the Standard version.

The vehicle has been equipped with a stability control system, which will switch on the vehicles rear lights incase one has had to stop the vehicle suddenly. The vehicle has smart radar that keeps the driver alert about the blind spots in the back by lighting the correct rear view mirror. The SUV has a camera in the back with a parking help system that warns the driver about potential objects in the vehicles path.

In the model year 2009, Audi plans to get a better cleaner version of a diesel engine for the Audi Q7, called the Turbo diesel whose introduction has been delayed by 3 months.
