In Europe the preferred choice of fuel was Diesels, and, bit by bit, it’s starting to break the US market, but, unexpected, Japan car.com' class=a11 style='text-decoration:none' target=_blank>motorists have never really taken to the efficient fuel. With the introduction of a diesel powered X-Trail SUV Nissan hopes to conquer its home market.
According to Automotive News the new diesel X-Trail will be the first Japanese diesel passenger car sold here since the 1990s and will hit the market in the second half of next year. The only carmaker to offer a diesel passenger car in Japan recently with its E320 CDI sedan has been Mercedes-Benz. Japan will enjoy a diesel rebirth with Honda promising cars in ’09 and the Nissan arrival one year prior.
Because of the high exhaust levels of toxic nitrogen oxides and other pollutants it seems that the technology is not enough. Anyway, Nissan’s French partner Renault has developed new clean diesels and high-performance catalysts and the design will meet strict new emissions norms in the Japanese field.
