Audi expects half of the European customers of its brand new Q5 model to be women. Frank Hermann, the head of product marketing (Q5 and Q7), affirmed the automaker believes more women will now choose this mid-sized Q5 unit than Audi鈥檚 bigger Q7 due to the the compact size of the Q5.
"In Europe, we expect 25 to 50 percent of the Q5鈥檚 buyers to be women compared with 10 to 12 percent with the Q7," Hermann said here at the auto show. The Q5 has exactly the same platform as the A4 lower-premium auto. It is 456mm shorter than the Q7 - 5085mm-long.
"We think our clean diesel engines are the most suitable solution for cutting CO2 emissions on the Q5," Herman affirmed. The Q5鈥檚 most powerful diesel unit, a 240hp, 3.0-liter V-6, with CO2 emissions - 205 grams per kilometer driven. "We are working to reduce emissions to under 200g/km," said Hermann.
