The first Volvo car – ÖV4 ‘Jakob’, eighty years ago, left the factory in Gothenburg. The Volvo anniversary in the UK will be celebrated showcasing more than 120 classic autos. At the beginning Volvo was a subsidiary of a ball-bearing manufacturer. It was founded the city of Gothenburg, in 1927.
From 1935 Volvo AB became an independent company. Volvo Group owned Volvo Cars until 1999; then it was subsequently bought by Ford.
The ÖV4, means in Swedish ‘Öppen Vagn 4 cylindrar’ (Open Carriage 4 cylinders) was produced in a limited edition of just 996 cars, from which only one auto (2.0L four-cylinder engine with 28hp and weigh 1,170kg) remains to this moment at a Volvo museum in Sweden.
