Toyota and Subaru will co-develop a sports car for the Japanese market under the Toyota name-plate. This first time the two companies have joined their forces since Toyota, in 2005, obtained 8.7% of Subaru's hand company, Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. We should see the car in 2010; the price tag is 2 million Yen or about $17,000 U.S. Using a 2 liter engine and an all-wheel drive Subaru will be aiming the model at young, urban buyers.
Daihatsu - Toyota's subsidiary will provide Subaru with the Coo compact. Asahi reported that as early as next summer, and only in Japan, Subaru could sell the re-badged Coo, expecting the sales to hit 6,000 a year. A similar venture between the two companies it already exists in Europe where a re-badged Daihatsu named Subaru Justy and will be entering the market this fall. Since April this year Subaru's Indiana factory has been producing the Toyota Camry in the U.S
