Honda unveiled the S2000 CR Prototype at the New York International Auto Show. The production of the car will be available as a special edition S2000 only for the US market.
The sale will start in the fall of 2007. The new design is stiffer, lighter aggressive with the goal of massively-improving track times, feel and chassis balance. It has overall weight reduction, aggressive suspension settings, increased body and chassis rigidity and an aerodynamic body kit dialed-in for reduced lift. The convertible soft top was replaced by an aluminum hardtop. The renowned high-revving engine runs with 237 horsepower at 7,800 rpm and 162 lb-ft. of torque at 6,800 rpm. The powerful design comes with a 2.2-liter, 16-valve DOHC VTEC庐 4-cylinder engine and a precise, short throw 6-speed manual transmission and strong handling and a perfect 50/50 weight balance.
