Worrying a software glitch could cause the auto’s stability control systems and traction to switch off automatically, Maserati has announced a recall for its Quattroporte saloon. Maserati’s Quattroporte is the only affected car in the lineup but it concerns both the new Automatica as well as the older Duoselect vehicles.
Officials said the Maserati Stability Program (MSP) controls also the ABS brakes but these aren’t affected. The problem is a bug in the MSP’s software management. “Traction control will trip out” if the battery reaches a certain level, a spokesman informed the News reporters.
According to officials it’s not dangerous to continue driving for a period of time. If the MSP should turn off, a warning light will appear on the dash. Owners shouldn’t be worried about the failing of their brakes; the auto wouldn’t be instantly uncontrollable.
