Nissan will equip all of its new autos with a fuel consumption gauge. It鈥檚 not a new technology but the device addition will increase efficiency by 10%. When the accelerator is pressed, the driver can see on the meter the change of fuel consumption.
"When people have a fuel-efficiency meter on their cars, they tend to drive more carefully, trying to achieve good readings," said Haruko Wada - Nissan spokeswoman. Automotive News reports that the fuel-efficiency meter has been installed on a few Nissan autos since 2006, including Altima sedans in North America and Skyline sports cars in Japan.
