Smart will have at least 10 stand-alone shops when the For-Two minicar hits U.S. in January. Distributor for Smart - Penske Automotive Group plans to add an initial network of 40 dealerships, possibly as many as 70 in a few years.
Automotive News reports that the first exclusive dealership for Smart is being built in the Detroit suburb of Michigan, Bloomfield Hills. Bloomfield Hills will be Smart鈥檚 headquarters. The Smart stores will use the name of the owner, all following the same naming scheme; followed by city name - Smart Center Bloomfield Hills.
