Toyota will be working with Electricite de France SA (EDF) to `evaluate Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles in Europe`. Toyota partnered with the EDF not to develop the plug-in hybrids autos but to work on the French charging infrastructure, which could after be extended to other countries in Europe. EDF will also get a small amount of plug-in hybrids for its fleet, countinuing testing the viability of the plug-in in the real-world.
EDF is the leading electricity maker in Europe, active in all business departments of electricity: transport, distribution, production, energy supply and trading. In Europe, over 100,000 hybrids have been sold under Toyota`s name.
