The IQ Concept was revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show and it`s obvious Toyota is pushing to develop a minicar with the potential to be sold in emerging markets like China, Brazil and Russia. However, the Japanese carmaker is thinks it might have trouble making a minivehicle that is safe and with high quality maintaining the cost within the segment.
Katsuaki Watanabe – the president of Toyota, after driving the low-cost prototypes of Toyota, told Automotive News Europe the `level of the new car not bad` but also said there`s always room for improving the quality. Meaning the cost of the small auto will be higher than expected. Watanabe added that Toyota could offer the vehicle under €5,000, but it wouldn't offer the quality and safety Toyota is known for.
