Land Rover won 3 out of the 8 categories and the overall title… 4x4 of the Year for the new… and improved Defender.
The Range Rover, the Land Rover Defender 90 and the Discovery 3 fought off hard competition from about 60 other autos in one of the biggest tests of this kind, to win the Luxury Class, Extreme Class and Family Class respectively. Also Highly Commended was The Freelander 2 in the Soft-Roader Class.
`We think this is the most credible test of its kind ever undertaken by a 4x4 magazine, and Land Rover`s success can`t be underestimated in what is now a hugely competitive market sector` said John Carroll – Editor of 4x4 Magazine.
`All of the Land Rover range fared extremely well against the competitors but the Defender is still the King of the Off-Roaders. Thanks to its all-new 2.4-litre Ford-derived powertrain, plus revamped interior, the traditional British icon has clearly been elevated to another level`.
The brand new Land Rover line-up is also a hit with the customers and… the sales are up by 13 percent.
