Honda`s Acura department has been criticized for not giving V8 powertrains on any of its sports or luxury autos. Acura is thinking skipping all the V8s and chose 10 power, rather than making a V8 to compete with BMW and Lexus.
`That`s the plan,` said Watts. `We`ll see how people react to a 10 in the sports car and maybe move from there. Maybe instead of using V8s, we`ll take the next step up and go to V10s` he added.
V10s are mostly reserved for the ultra-expensive sports autos, with the BMW`s M5 and M6 being the cheapest mainstream cars featuring V10 motors. But Acura could use less forceful ten-cylinder engines in the more premium types, including front-engine sedans and coupes.
