September sales results for GM and Ford
|
General Motors and Ford have released the sales figures for September. For Ford the result was less than expected as the carmaker saw decline in sales of 21% over last year same month. This 21% overall slip was because of a 15% sales decline in retail and 62% drop in the rental ones.
The results for GM were far better as the carmaker saw a 4% increasing sales despite earlier forecasts predicting a small decrease. Amazingly, sales were stimulated by selling light truck — an area largely hurt by the gas prices increase. Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC, Buick and Saturn all increased sales —6% for Buick thanks to the Enclave crossover. Cadillac also had the best sales month in 2007 due to powerful sales of the brand new CTS.
The retail sales for GM were up 7% and fleet sales taking the 6% planned dip.
