Chrysler will be suspending the production of Belvidere, Illinois production factory beginning next Monday. This production halt, scheduled for during two weeks, will be reducing inventory of the unsold cars. The Belvidere factory employs around 3,400 workers (in three shifts) producing the Dodge Caliber, Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass.
`It`s being done to adjust inventory levels`, told Chrysler spokeswoman Michele Tinson to the Automotive News.
Chrysler`s U.S. September sales were down 5% with the Caliber and Compass partially blamed. Automotive News reports the sales for September of both autos were down, Caliber sales decreasing by 23% and the Compass sales declining with 23.5%.
