Volkswagen will boost R&D spending on this joint-venture with Shanghai Auto from China. The German carmaker has spent already $400 million on the Chinese facilities for research in preparation for the debut of brand new models. The first vehicles made by the joint-venture will appear next year.
`The model is mainly designed in China by Shanghai-Volkswagen, but it will still carry the Volkswagen brand` said a VW spokesperson.
