Volkswagen has great plans for the United States market: two all new models by 2010, a brand new plant and also raised exports. It`s part of Volkswagen `Strategy 2018`, or maybe an attempt helping Volkswagen in overtaking Toyota as world`s number one automaker within the uipcoming ten years.
The German carmaker also is considering a new factory in North America, protecting itself against a powerful euro. VW operates already a plant in Puebla, Mexico. `Should the dollar continue to lose out to the euro, then the plan will only make economic sense with an additional factory (in North America). Plus, the plant at Puebla is already close to full capacity`.
