The Ford Freestar made its debut in 2004 as a minivan that could seat not more than seven passengers. It came into the market as a replacement for the Ministar. The Freestar initially came in five versions; base, SE, Sport, SEL and the Limited. The Freestar derived its power from two V6 engines that ran on gas, there was a 3.9 Liter engine available in the United States and a 4.2 Liter engine that was available in Canada. Though the vehicle was considered as a replacement for the Ministar, there was only a marginal improvement in the vehicle. The engines had become heavier than its predecessor and used more gas to travel the same distance. In the three years that the first generation minivan was on the road, there were no changes made to it.

The second generation Ford Freestar hit the roads in 2007. The minivan derived its power from a 193 Horsepower 3.9 Liter V6 or a 201 Horsepower 4.2 Liter V6.

The Freestar is available in three versions, SE, SEL and Limited. The minivan seats seven passengers and though it has a third row of seats, there is not enough room for the passengers seated in the second row to stretch out their legs. The Vehicle also lacks enough space to store luggage. The SE model is equipped with a second row of seats that is akin to a bench and a third row of seats that can be folded. The SEL version is equipped with independent seats for passengers seated in the second row, an air conditioner in the back of the vehicle and a one touch seat for the driver. The Limited has leather seats and doors that can be slid open and closed with the touch of a button. The Ford Freestar Minivan has disc brakes for all the wheels and a system that distributed the brake power to all the wheels electronically.
