Toyota recalled recently nearly 250,000 autos worldwide. The recall — involving vehicles in both Japan and America — is due to some potential fuel pipes cracks. This recall covers 215,020 autos in Japan — which includes Mark X, Crown and a few Lexus models made between December 2003 - December 2005; and 34,400 U.S.-spec last year Lexus GS 300, IS 250 plus IS 350 models.
No crushes have been tied to the defect. "It's really not a long-term reliability issue, and it has and will continue to be addressed," said Jim Lentz, the head of Toyota's American division.
