Though the Ford F series started production in 1948, it was not until the year 1975, that the Ford Company introduced the F-150 Flareside truck, which could carry 2,275Lb of weight. Since the Ford F-100 was still in production, the Ford F-150 Flareside was known as the heavy half ton vehicle. The vehicle had The F O R D name printed on the front Grille of the vehicle and the headlights were placed on the same level as the name. In 1976 two new versions of The F150 Flareside, the Ranger and the Lariat were introduced. Also the headlights were now shaped rectangular. In 1978 a luxury version of the Lariat was introduced. The F-150 Flareside was being powered by 163 horsepower V8 engine.
In 1980 when the second generation F-150 Flareside made its debut it got a sleek look. The face of the engine covering was sloped inwards and the interior was changed to give more room for those sitting inside the vehicle. The vehicle was now being offered in four versions: base, XL, XLT and XLT Lariat. The F-150 was being powered with a choice of 2 engines, a 7.5 Liter V8 and a 6.9 Liter V8 engine running on diesel. By 1984 the F-150 became the entry level truck for Ford with the stopping of production of the F-100. In 1987 when the third generation F-150 Flareside hit the roads, a new headlight was put. It had a dashboard on which the readings could be read clearly and all the engines got the fuel injection system. The vehicle now became available with two and 4 wheel drive. In 1992, the F-150 got amore sleeker look and better dashboard when its fifth generation made a debut. The vehicle got new safety features, with airbags for the driver, a new CD player with a new front row seating arrangement.
In 1997 the redesigned sixth generation of the Ford F150 Flareside hit the roads, which was powered by a 4.2-liter V6. The F-150 came in several sizes, Regular Body Extended body and a body for the crew. These were further offered in 3 versions the XL, XLT and Lariat.
