After lots of rumors about Scirocco being and not on the USA market, now it`s official: Volkswagen Scirocco will not be available on the American market. Stefan Jacoby, the president and CEO at Volkswagen - America, unveiled the decision in an interview to Car and Driver during the L.A. auto show.
This four-passenger coupe model will go in mid-2008 on sale in Europe. But the United States already has the R32 and the GTI, which are quite enough halo cars for this segment, says Jacoby.
"We need to focus on our core products," he says, so, namely… the Rabbit (Golf), the Passat, the Jetta… and the revesaling of the Tiguan SUV. "The [2009 Scirocco] is lovely, but we can’t have everything".
