Hennessey released details plus a sketch of the upcoming Venom GT super model. Powered by twin-turbo version from the Dodge Viper's V10 8.4L engine — with 1,000 horsepower — mated to a six-speed manual or a sequential gearbox.
Featuring a weight under 2,700 pounds, this Venom GT will run the 0-62 lap in less than 2.5 seconds , hitting 300 km/h in 14 seconds.
Despite the comparisons with the Bugatti Veyron, John Hennessey (owner) says the Veyron isn`t the target of the Venom GT model. "The Veyron is an ultra fast and ultra luxurious grand touring car which also happens to be quicker and faster than any other road car, except for our Venom 1000 Twin Turbo SRT which beat the Veyron earlier this year from 0-200 mph. The Venom GT will be a much more engaging sports car to drive by challenging the driver with 1000+ HP in a chassis that is nearly 1500 lbs lighter than the Veyron," he said.
A Venom GT concept version could be in the 2009 auto show circuit with a production variant following right after.
