The first generation Explorer Sport Trac was introduced in the year 2000 but hit the roads in 2001. The body of the Sport Trac was the same as that of The Explorer but a bit longer. It was a four door sports utility vehicle, which had a rough looking front. This rough look also was evident inside the vehicle where the floor of the vehicle was made of rubber. The vehicle had a 4.0 Liter V6 engine. There were no changes to the car until the first generation Sport trac stopped its production run in 2005.
The second generation Sport Trac model was introduced to the world in 2006, but hit the roads in 2007. There were two engine types that buyers could choose; there was the earlier V6 engine and a new V8 engine. The Sport Trac got a whole new body which was strengthened and a new four wheel suspension. The new model comes in two types, The XLT which is a middle of the line version and The Limited which is for top of the line buyers.
The XLT version of The Ford Explorer Sport Trac comes with an amalgamated cargo area, 16 inch tires and one touch windows. Entry to the vehicle is keyless along with air conditioning and a CD player. The limited version comes with 18 inch tires, one touch pedals and a Home Link system. The Sport Trac can be equipped with a heated front mirror, a navigation system and a better stereo system. The vehicle has anti-lock brakes, a system to monitor the stability of the vehicle and front airbags.
