Ford E-Series Passenger Van

The first generation Ford E Series Passenger van made its debut in 1961. The vehicle had a flat front and its engine was between the seats. The van on introduction was powered by an engine having 6 cylinders and three manual gears, which was later improved to an automatic gear system. The minivan was a big success and was used by many utility companies in its first year. It came in three forms, a van to carry luggage and light goods, a van used to transport 8 passengers and as a light truck that could be used to move cargo from door to door. The second generation E Series van changed the face of van design, when the engine was moved to the front of the vehicle with a small hood. This vehicle received a new V8 engine. In 1971 the manufacturer changed the front of the van and gave it back doors that had a sliding feature. The E Series got a new look and body in 1975. The van now had the same shape and power as that of a truck. The front of the van assumed a more normal shape, and this design continued till the year 1991.

In 1992 the third generation E Series came into being powered by a choice of 4.9 Liter, 5.0, 5.8 liter and 7.5 Liter V8 Engines. It got a sleek look, but the vehicle became infamous for rolling over as it could not carry the large weight it was supposed to carry. In 1996 Ford redesigned The E Series with a new front frame and a dashboard that was made of non expensive but good to look at materials. The vehicle got its power from a new series of Triton engines. In 2001 when the fourth Generation E series made its debut, Ford redesigned it and brought out a new model called The E 150 which was meant for the family. These new vehicle had windows in the middle and seats that could be folded, with enough place to seat 5.

The new Ford E Series passenger van is available in three types, one that seats 8 and is numbered as E-150, one that seats 12 and is numbered as E-350 and one that seats 15 and is numbered E350 super heavy duty. Each model has two versions which are the XL and XLT. The E-150 is powered by a 4.6 Liter V8, or one can get an E-150 with a 5.4 Liter V8 which is the engine that powers The E 350. The E350 Super duty is powered by a power stroke V8 engine.
