The 2009 Ford Flex is a large 4-door multi-purpose vehicle with 7-passenger capability. With a standard 2.5L Duratec V6, the Flex offers 262hp and 248ft. lb. torque running through a 6-speed automatic transmission. You can get the Flex with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and 4-wheel independent suspension.
Replacing Ford's only minivan, the Freestar, Ford eschews the idea of calling Flex by that name. Lacking the commensurate sliding side door, Flex is still intended to be a people-friendly carrier which will appeal to families who are, for one reason or another, disenchanted with the minivan image. Whatever you choose to call it, the Flex has a distinctive appearance, with its white or silver roof and darkened roof pillars. Another retro touch is the grooved door panels which Ford claims are not only attractive by add to the strength of the side impact door beams.
To increase family interest in the Flex, Ford offers some irresistible options such as a real refrigerator to store beverages, a Multi-Panel Vista Roof with four openings for extra viewing area, voice-activated navigation, and a rear view camera. Another available option is called Ford Synch, which includes hands-free BlueTooth connectivity and MP3 control by voice command. In addition to driver and front passenger airbags, the Flex includes its Safety Canopy System of side curtain airbags.
With what is offered in the 2009 Ford Flex , families can easily transition from their minivan into a vehicle with more rear seat leg room, more amenities, enhanced safety features, and show-stopping styling. With optimistic expectations as it appears in showrooms, the Ford Flex is available in SE, SEL, and Limited models, similar in equipment and trim to the sedan and SUV variants.
