Chrysler will eliminate 1,096 at the Belvedere Assembly Plant, plus the Detroit carmaker will cut another 3,904. The 5,000 job elimination is part of the Recovery and Transformation plan; last year Chrysler announced this.
In the Detroit zone, Chrysler will cut 900 jobs from the Jefferson North Assembly Plant plus an additional 1,140 jobs from the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant. So, Toledo will be losing 780 positions at the Toledo North Assembly Plant and the Chrysler Brampton Assembly Plant from Ontario will lose 1,000 jobs.
The elimination program includes union hourly workers.
