After launching the F2008 on the 6th of January, McLaren revealed a day later the MP4-23 model, at the Stutgart museum, having as honor guest the experienced Lewis Hamilton. As the 7th of January represents also Hamilton's birthday, he called the MP4-23 as being “coolest birthday present you can get.” First test of the car was done today and we are still waiting for find out the latest comments from him.
However, the car looks amazing and certainly the 14,000 engineering hours and another 14,000 manufacturing hours will prove to have been worth it. With more than 3000 hours logged in the wind tunnel, the MP4-23 is already a highly-developed and tuned race car - which is to be expected, since it has been under design and development since November, 2006.Unlike the Ferrari, which sports a modified wheelbase among other changes, the MP4-23 is an evolution of the MP4-22, and bears no significant visual difference. Nevertheless, the statistics are astonishing: in 2,3 sec it hits 60 mph, in 3,6 sec it can touch 100 mph; the braking system was also changed for the better- 185-0 mph can be reached in 3.5 sec.
However, this is not its final shape-it will be continuously upgraded until its debut in Australia.
