Maybach sold 0 units in Australia in 2007

Maybach did not manage this year to sell not even 1 unit in Australia! This news is quite striking as the Australians bought more than 1 million cars in 2007-this means that at a population of 20 million, 1 in 20 people could afford a car and, undoubtfully, luxury cars were sold too. This raises a problematic question-why do people choose to buy another luxury car than Maybach? Could it be the astonishing price, the size of the car (many consider it impracticable, hard to use and even "ugly" in comparison to its nearly priced competitors).

What's more, is that luxury cars really did sell in Australia- Bentley sales increased in 2007 with 17,6% and Ferrari sold more with aprox. 43% than in 2006. Even Rolls Royce sold in 17 units, having a 5 units increase than the previous year- the factory even states that the demands are in such a large number, that they can hardly face it.

Could it be an disadvantage that the line is based entirely on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class? Could it be the so-high price (a 1/3 of a million dollars is spend just on chrome accessories and interior)? No matter the reason for the non-existing sales in Australia is, the question is getting harder and harder for the Benz team to answer, as the sales of the Maybach decreased a lot in 2007- and not only in Australia.
