They are finally here- the awards for the car and truck of the near in North America were announced and despite all rumors, the results (especially for the second category) shocked the audience. This year's car award was offered to Chevrolet Malibu and the medal for best truck of the year was taken home by Mazda CX-9 SUV. The first name (Malibu model from Chevrolet) was not really a surprise if we take into consideration that 4 finalists out of the 6 on the list wear under the signature of GM, but the CX-9 SUV from Mazda was quite unexpected, if we come to think that its competitors were Chevrolet Tahoe and Buick Enclave.
The finalists were evaluated by 48 automotive journalists from the U.S. and Canada and the evaluation was based over a strict number of criteria such as safety, handling, fuel economy, innovation, design, value for the dollar, driver satisfaction, performance and comfort.
