Even thought the new model from Mitsubishi had also appeared at the Tokyo Auto Show earlier this year, its grand entrance was made at the L.A. Auto Show when details about the features of the car and the price you have to pay to get one of the Lancer Evolution X, were revealed.
The prices for a standard Evolution version will start at 32,990 dollars for the base GSR model with a five-speed manual transmission- the new pricing represents an important increase from the previous-generations Evolution IX's base price of 28,679 dollars.The up-level MR —complete with Mitsubishi's new dual-clutch transmission— is expected to reach up to 39,000 dollars per unit.
However, if we make a comparison with the JDM version, it is obvious that there were not made remarkable changes.The 2.0 liter turbo four motor, with its 291hp can reach up to 300 lb-feet of torque. The throttle response was improved by 20% compared to the previous0-generation car.Other features that were improved are the timing chain instead of a belt setup and MIVEC variable valve timing used on both the intake and exhaust camshafts — not only on the intake side like the old Evo engine.
The Lancer Evolution will be available in two versions:the GSR and the MR. The first model resemblances the Evolution's base model and does not feature a rear wing (although it is an available option)or Mitsubishi's Twin Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission (instead opting for a five-speed manual). The MR includes those two features, and also BBS forged alloy wheels, Bilstein shock absorbers and Eibach springs, two-piece brake rotors and HID headlights.
