BMW,Mercedes and VW vehicles were sold very well in 2007 in the U.S.A.. While BMW is on the top of the list with 293,795 units sold, Mercedes closely follows on the list with 253,433 pieces sold all around the States. Both of these brands have factories opened in the States, and recently it was made public the fact that VW is also searching for a factory site in America (VW sold 230,572 cars in 2007). However, in spite of all this, Audi barely sold 93,506 vehicles in the U.S. and considers that this number does not worth the investment in a factory on the American territory. The Head of the U.S. sales, Johan de Nysschen, mentioned that Audi must sell at least 150,000 units before considering a U.S plant.
The target of the company is to achieve sales up to 200,000 units till 2018 and committing up to 11.8 billion Euros (that is a huge sum of money!).Also Audi intends to increase its range of vehicles from 22 to 40 by 2015. For the moment, the model growth continues in 2008 with the release of A5 coupe and the new A4, with plans for launching the Q5 early next year.
