Since 1998, when the first Focus was launched on the market, more than 5 million cars were produced just in Europe. Moreover, it was the first vehicle to be awarded with the 鈥淐ar of the year鈥� title in both Europe and North-America and it is also a very-well known model in Asia as well. All in all, just in Europe Ford Focus won over 80 awards. This year it will be celebrating its tenth anniversary with a brand new model. The new design of the vehicle it called 鈥渒inetic design鈥� and the car features new technologies, a fresh attitude, all combined with remarkable environmental credentials and great driving dynamics. The Ford portfolio will be enlarged in 2008 by adding the new four-door saloon, the Focus-Coupe Cabriolet and the sporty flagship model Focus ST.
The 鈥渒inetic鈥� design will define the new 2008 Focus model which actually means a restructure of the entire model, starting from the interior to the exterior. Martin Smith, part of Europe鈥檚 Executive Director for Design mentioned: "We wanted to ensure that the new model was still recognizably a Focus, but was also identifiable as a new generation Ford. I am very happy with the results, as the new car has greater presence and stronger lines which reinforce its driving dynamics credentials. Just as with the new Mondeo, this car reflects our philosophy represented in our form language."
On the inside, definitely the accent was put on the quality of materials and on the high level of comfort. Among the new features that can be mentioned here are the a soft feel top to the doors, new instrument binnacle, revised center stack and redesigned window and mirror switches. On some key models there is also the option of quality leather and the Titanium X are brought up with blue-tinted glass. The Ghia, Titanium and ST series models come equipped with a new 鈥減remium鈥� center console that features a movable armrest with 80mm of travel, a four-liter capacity storage compartment, auxiliary jack and iPod connection, plus two open cup holders with rubber mat, a coin holder and a card holder.
There are five model series available for the new Focus: the Ambiente followed by the Trend series, the classic luxury of Ghia and the Titanium variants. There are even personalization options for customers which represent a variety of themed option packs for the above mentioned models.
