Chrysler to use more engines and technology from Mercedes

Even though Chrysler used for its last models technology from both Volkswagen and Mercedes, it seems that there was made a publis statement about the future usage of Mercedes technology only so far- "We will continue the good cooperation with Mercedes in the future, in the area of fuel cells, diesel engines and gasoline engine development, amongst other things. We will continue to use Mercedes’ developments in terms of electronics and advanced safety,", said Chrysler’s Executive Vice President - Product Development Frank O. Klegon as Chrysler’s contract with VW comes to an end short time.
However, it is woth mentioning that Volkswagen supplies Chrysler with the 138bhp 2.0-litre TDI engine which powers the Jeep Compass and the Chrysler Sebring. Just last year, Chrysler bought 40,000 diesel engines from Volkswagen while 43,000 engines came from Mercedes and this will turn out into an even bigger number as a consequence of this deal.
