The 3008 SUV from Peugeot was supposed to be a big secret until late 2009. But AutoExpress caught it full winter testing. The 3008 SUV model will be joining the range below Mitsubishi-derived 4007 and will compete with models like Nissan Qashqai and Volkswagen Tiguan.
The 3008 SUV`s look will be inspired from the 308 RC Z Concept revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year. The SUV is known internally as the T8. It will be offered in five and seven-seat configurations, having the latter featuring the third row of fold-flat chairs. Buyers will be able also to choose, on both models, between two and four-wheel drive.
The SUV will be borrowing the engine line-up right from the 308 line-up. These will be including the turbocharged 1.6-litre that`s in the 207 supermini model, and shared with the all new MINI line-up. Diesel models will be accounted for the sales majority, though, and this newcomer is likely to have a choice of 1.6 / 2.0-litre HDi oil-burners.
The sales will begin in early 2010.
