Chrysler to cut some of its models down the market?
|
After developing the „Project Genesis”, it seems that Chrysler is more decided than ever to cut nearly half of the models available on the market at present time down. Under its turnaround plan, Chrysler wants to reevaluate the entire business from A to Z, combining dealerships, dropping duplicate models and reducing bureaucratic hurdles. Even though there is nothing made public by the officials from the company, there is very much to be expected that at this week’s National Automotive Dealers Association’s in San Francisco we will be told more about this news, as Chrysler President Jim Press will be holding a speech.
The plans to drop the first four models were made public since last year by the new CEO Bob Nardelli- the PT Cruiser Convertible, Chrysler Crossfire and Pacifica and the Dodge Magnum. By reducing its fleet sales, Chrysler could sell as many as 200,000 fewer vehicles per year. Jim Press further commented that the 3 billion dollars annual budget will be used differently than before, by improving existing products and filling the holes in the lineup where they have appeared. The cars that will most probably be dropped are models which are sold under Chrysler’s different brands that compete in the same area. Press further commented that „Do we need 11 SUVs? Maybe we just need three or four.”
