Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, the indian auto manufacturer has acquired the Italian car design and engineering company GRD. This move indicates the desire of Mahindra to go global with their upcoming products.
The financial details of the agreement with Turin-based G.R. Grafica Ricerca Design (GRD) are not available.
This acquisition will help us strengthen our existing design capabilities, help us emerge as a global auto design powerhouse [and] provide a solid European footprint said Pawan Goenka, the president of automotive unit at Mahindra.
After all the formalities, the firm will have a new name - Mahindra Graphic Research and Design.
Mahindra makes tractors and Utility vehicles. They are one of the main players in the Indian car industry and have a partnership with Renault for making the Logan. Scorpio SUV by Mahindra is sold in the United States by Global Vehicles USA, and also will be launching the hybrid variant of the SUV later this year.
