Opel has announced today that they will reveal the Meriva Concept during the Geneva Motor Show and AutoExpress unveil a few renderings of that next generation Meriva, the model that will compete with Volkswagen Golf Plus, MINI Clubman and the upcoming Fiesta-based MPV from Ford.
The Meriva 2009 will be inspired by the Flextreme concept reveal last year at the Motor Show in Frankfurt. At the front, the car has the same pronounced grille, the faired-in headlights and the raised bonnet edges – an appearance that will also be found on Vectra-replacing Insignia.
It will be borrowing the suspensions from the all-new Corsa and inside - under the hood there`ll be a range of engines that includes the 1.3-litre and the 1.7-litre CDTI diesels plus a 1.6-litre turbo petrol. All automobiles will be offered on the market with stop-start technology, helping to improve the fuel economy and reduce the CO2 emissions.
The sales will start in early 2009.
