Cheaper entry-level XF from Jaguar?
|
There are rumors about a cheaper Jaguar XF version to be launched on the market if there are demands for such a vehicle, together with the present base version of the same model, the 2.7L V6 variant. Just like all the other carmakers, Jaguar is also facing rising fuel costs and strict emissions standards, but unlike its competitors, it does not have a line of efficient powertrains. Two of the most important rivals of Jaguar XF, BMW鈥檚 5-series and the Audi A6, have a standard version with a 2.0L turbodiesel and these variants are salling very well all across Europe, which means that Jaguar is actually missing out on this slice of the market.
Currently, there are developers who are very attentive to the movement of the car market and if customers will demand such a vehicle, the second version of XF will be built, as declared by Jaguar鈥檚 product development chief Mick Mohan. Such a car would also suit best the company鈥檚 rumored new owner, Tata Motors who could defenetly increase the sales by building an entry-level Jaguar of 2.0L diesel engine and this variant could actually fit better the market than the big gas V8s. As latest reports say, there are two options for Jaguar: either they start developing the completed designs for the compact diesel engines or, it could borrow or buy an engine from the Ford parts (last solution is doubtful as the forseeable split may endanger such an understanding).
