Ford of Europe begins today the production of the Kuga 2009 in Saarlouis, Germany at the Ford factory. The company is planning to build about 45,000 examples of the new unit in Saarlouis this year – that`s equivalent to almost 10 per cent of the annual production volume of the factory.
The Kuga model is the fourth one to be debuted at Saarlouis in the last year. It follows the all new Ford C-MAX in 2007 March, the brand new Ford Focus in 2007 December and the all-new Ford Focus ST this month.
The Kuga will be available having a Duratorq TDCi 136 PS 100kW 2.0-litre engine fitted to six-speed manual transmission. It`s applicable to both FWD and the intelligent AWD derivatives torque, the performance and pulling full power under all the engine and auto load conditions are calibrated perfectly to the all new Ford Kuga. The engine brings high levels of torque – 320 Nm with 2,000rpm and 340 Nm in the transient over boost. FWD and intelligent AWD versions return favorable fuel economy numbers of 6.3 and 6.4 liters of fuel per 100 km respectively, this using the mixed fuel consumption sums. The intelligent AWD number of 169 g/km of CO 2 it`s presenting it self as class-leading.
A total of 392,413 autos rolled off the line of production in Saarland in 2007. This is expected to raise to 425,000 cars this year.
