After being first revealed at the Motor Show in Detroit, the LRX model comes in a hybrid variant at the Motor Show that took place in Geneva. The LRX Concept shown at the Geneva Show comes offered in black and silver variant of LRX designed to be highlighting the suitability of the concept for contemporary personalization.
The LRX Black & Silver runs with a 2.0-litre turbo diesel hybrid, featuring potential CO2 emissions - 120 g/km and fuel economy - 60 mpg (4.7 l/100 km). The integrated Electric Rear Axle Drive (ERAD) of the concept is particularly significant in the Land Rover terms as it would be allowing LRX to use the electric drive alone at the lower speeds while retaining the full (even improved now) 4x4 ability in some tough conditions. Unlike that hybrid technology used by a few 4x4 rivals, the unique solution of the Land Rover retains mechanical drive for all four wheels.
"With its metallic black paintwork, silver roof and precisely detailed exterior features, the second version of the LRX concept is designed to show how well the vehicle can deliver a contemporary example of personalization" says Gerry McGovern, the design director at Land Rover.
"We were hugely excited by the positive response that the original LRX concept generated when we showed it at the Detroit Show a few weeks ago" says Phil Popham, the managing director of Land Rover. "But we鈥檝e always seen scope for LRX to provide a whole showroom of different models, with a range of power trains including hybrids and bio-fuel capable engines".
