Today Audi previewed the Q7 V12 TDI Quattro, a brand new version of the Q7 SUV model that will be debuting in Geneva. The diesel variant of the Q7 will be on sale in the second half of this year.
The Q7 V12 TDI Quattro has the first V12 diesel engine in the world, generating 500 hp of power plus 1,000 Nm (757.56 lb-ft) torque from six liters displacement. It makes the sprint of 0 to 60 mph in only 5.5 seconds while the maximum speed is capped electronically at 250 km/h (but on speedometer, the area extends to 310 km/h).
The Audi Q7 TDI V12 Quattro’s strong engine torque flows between a gently and rapidly shifting six-speed tiptronic, specially designed for this six-liter diesel engine’s huge torque. The driver can now shift the gears of that automatic transmission either by the selector lever or even manually with the basic chromed shift paddles on this three-spoke steering wheel.
The Quattro drive is distributing the power to front and the back wheels in 40:60 ratio – giving the auto a sporty, rear-focused style of driving that guarantees top agility and enjoyment of driving. When needed, the differential inter-axle transfers most of that power to the axle having better traction. Great care has been devoted also to reinforcing all the key components in this Quattro driveline.
Presales of the Q7 V12 TDI by Audi will start in the second half of this year. The strongest diesel car in its class is this exclusive top-of-the-line unit in the Q7 area.
