The history of Alpina D3 started at the Geneva Motor Show in 2006 and since then this tuning firm sold 850 models. Not so successful story will be the D3 Biturbo, which is a tuning kit with the base on the present 3-series.
The D3 Biturbo runs by a bi-turbocharged variant of the two-liter diesel engine that was found on the BMW 123d model. The turbochargers help now the engine to reach a power of 214 hp with a peak torque of 450 Nm. So this means a high performance 107 hp / liter engine capacity.
Some alternative to the basic six-speed manual gearbox is the sequential automatic gearbox nicked "Switchtronic". The both variants’ performance is the same: acceleration to 100 km/h happens in 6.9 seconds, and the maximum speed is 244 km/h. According to Alpina, average consumption on the D3 bi-turbo depends on the gearbox, between 5.4 and 5.6 liters.
The D3 Bi-turbo model is being offered featuring the initial bars, front spoiler, floor mats, exhaust system, a sport suspension, and typical instruments having a blue background plus the Alpina alloy rims in the classical design.
