The FT-HS - which means Future Toyota Hybrid Sports - is a futuristic sports-auto concept featuring an aerodynamic, sleek profile plus a potent petrol-electric hybrid engine. The front-engine, rear-drive layout is providing revolutionary hybrid acceleration plus optimal performance with the projected 0-100km/h dash on the four-second range.
It features also the fuel-saving benefits and the ultra-low emissions of hybrid technology at Toyota.
Australia鈥檚 corporate manager product planning for Toyota Peter Evans affirmed the FT-HS is really exhilarating to drive while it has eco-friendly benefits such like impressive fuel efficiency plus low emissions.
"To really appreciate FT-HS, think of it as a 鈥橮rius on steroids鈥�. "Alternatively, it could be a vision for a Toyota Supra of the future," Mr Evans affirmed. "FT-HS shows what Toyota can achieve by combining its 50 years in motorsport with more than a decade of hybrid experience and development鈥�.
"The ability to enjoy the ultimate driving pleasure with a clear conscience makes FT-HS the ideal sports car for the 21st century鈥�. "It will appeal to an emerging group of buyers who are environmentally aware and regard technology as a necessity, not a luxury".
FT-HS was made by Calty, California design centre and research at Toyota.
The centre set out to make a mid-priced sports auto that integrates emotion and ecology in a concept addressing the question: "What is a suitable sports car for the 21st century?"
Australians can enjoy the FT-HS concept on the Toyota鈥檚 stand at Melbourne International Motor Show (from 29 February to 10 March).
