Mercedes will be adding three all-new extra-economical BlueEFFICIENCY saloons for the C-Class area. The C 200 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY makes 136 hp, consuming only 5.1 litres - 100 kilometers, while the C 180 KOMPRESSOR BlueEFFICIENCY at 156 hp covers 100 kilometers having 6.5 liters of premium petrol. This third model, the C 350 CGI will be displayed in Geneva.
The C 200 CDI and C 180 KOMPRESSOR units are both equipped with six-speed manual transmission featuring overdrive characteristics as basic. With a ratio at 0.838 : 1 and 0.828 : 1, respectively, the sixth gear considerably lowers the speed of the engine speed, fulfilling an important precondition for the fuel-efficient driving.
The CGI engine summons an output of 215 kW/292 hp with 365 Newtonmetres of peak torque at 3000 rpm. 15 kW/20 hp plus 15 Newtonmetres respectively more than the current V6 model having port injection. Thanks to the state-of-the-art engine technology, the consumption of fuel of the C 350 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY has been stooped to approx. 8.4 liters per 100 kilometers (provisional NEDC number), approx. one liter below the expectation for the present C 350. As such, the brand new six-cylinder engine produces a major contribution in reducing the carbon dioxide emissions.
The CGI model offers also an impressive driving experience mixed with superb economy and the environmental compatibility: this C 350 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY takes only 6.2 seconds to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h and it鈥檚 capable of electronically limited maximum speed of 250 km/h.
