Holden took today the wraps off a brand new concept car called Coupe 60. Essentially a two-door variant of the VE Commodore, the auto could easily be put in production, but General Motors insists there are no concrete plans just now. Although the Holden name exists in Australia only, the Commodore sedan model is imported to America as Pontiac G8, which is opening the door to obvious so that a Coupe 60 could come here eventually as well.
“This is a vehicle I know our designers would dearly love to see go into production, but for the moment it has to remain a concept only†Mark Reuss, GM Holden Chairman and Managing Director said.
Shorter than the Commodore with over two inches, the coupe unit rides on 21-inch wheels, powered by a V8 6.0 litre engine having E85 ethanol fuel compatibility.
Like the CTS Coupe from Cadillac — another two-door coupe GM concept — the Coupe 60 model has a pillarless style, meaning there’s no structural B-pillar between the rear side and front side windows.
