Spies caught the first glimpse of the Cadillac CTS Coupe production through the trees of the secret holding pen. Having these first-ever profile and front-3/4 shots of the real-world prototype CTS coupe, you can now assess all the changes Cadillac designers made translating the striking concept at Detroit into a production auto.
Thankfully, it appears the majority of the concepts CTS Coupe lines have been duplicated faithfully on this production unit. Some feared the concept's radical, strong fastback design might be now watered down, unveiling the roots of the Coupe sedan, but our profile view it proves these fears doesn鈥檛 exist. It appears the production variant may have a slightly more visual, pronounced rear deck, but if it's so, it is not enough to alter significantly the concept's silhouette. This CTS coupe prototype model retains an extraordinary flat backlight.
The CTS Coupe prototype separates itself further from its sedan donor due to the elimination of conventional door handle, and adopting instead the concept's Corvette-style design that hides the door trigger right behind the aft cut-line of the door. The production and concept similarities continue with Coupe's changed lower side sill, and distinctively sculpted waistline, which starts at the A-pillar/fender vent, narrows as it stretching rearward. The camouflage hides so you don鈥檛 know if the line terminates in the concept's razor-sharp point on the C-pillar, but it really looks likely that that's yet another design convergence right between the show- and production autos. Earlier images confirmed also that the bold central exhaust of the concept will also hit the showrooms.
