Mazda will be presenting at the International Auto Show in New York the Furai Concept and the RX-8 2009 sports-car. The Furai is taking Mazda`s quite unique Nagare (`flow` in Japanese) design language through the future as it`s translated into a concept auto based on an ALMS (American Le Mans Series) racing vehicle. The auto utilizes that Courage C65 chassis the firm campaigned on the ALMS series just two seasons ago, plus the three-rotor rotary 450-hp engine that’s distinguishes itself from anything that’s on the track.
The RX-8 2009 will further with the evolution of that four-door, four-seater sports coupe model, giving RX-8 refreshed exterior/interior design, enhanced performance plus an all-new R3 sport package ready for the ultimate enthusiast of driving. The core of the RX-8 is unchanged – high-powered, a lightweight, perfectly balanced machine that’s powered by the world-known twin-rotor rotary RENESIS engine.
In addition to the Furai and the RX-8 2009, Mazda will be displaying the full this year lineup of autos and SUVs. The particular interest will be on the Mazda CX-9, that’s one of the most successful and award-winning vehicles in the history of Mazda. CX-9 was named recently the 2008 North American Truck of the Year award, alongside with the 2008 Motor Trend Sport/Utility of the Year. The media’s not alone to be recognizing the car. Debuted in 2007, this award-winning CX-9 had record sales of 25,566 in only ten months. Mixed with the awards and the attention it has gained, the CX-9 model proves that it’s truly the best in its class.
