Infiniti revealed today at the Motor Show in Geneva the second-generation FX luxury performance crossover. The FX 2009 will be offered in three variants, including a brand new V8-equipped 5.0-liter Infiniti FX50. The FX 2009 is scheduled to be on sale at the Infiniti dealers in the U.S. and Canada in June this year.
The Infiniti FX50 has an all new power plant, which will be making the debut on this unit – an advanced V8 5.0-liter that’s mounted low in the chassis helping lower the center of gravity in the FX50. The design of the engine includes microfinished crankshaft, twin symmetrical air intakes, super-silent cam drive chains, lightweight pistons and an electrically driven cooling fan helping optimize its performance.
The development goals for the FX50’s brand new VK50VE V8 begins with an outstanding power output of 390 horsepower (287kw) plus 500 Nm of torque – high rev limit, a strong engine sound from the specially tuned exhaust and the improved economy of fuel versus the last generation FX45.
The new FX50 by Infiniti is a radical expression of utility and sport – designed to be standing out by any measure. With the highest demanded class features included as basic equipment, FX50 is combining advanced technology with the exceptional levels of safety, quality, style, performance and luxury.
