Hyundai revealed at the Motor Show in Geneva the HED-5 Concept model, a six-seater people carrier incorporating high-tech materials, advanced seating concept plus state technology of the art communication in a totally new auto.
Hyundai HED-5 i-mode runs with an all-new R diesel 2.2-litre engine which first it passes the intake air right through a low-pressure turbocharger and then it鈥檚 forced into the high-pressure turbocharger for top boost: 158kw (215ps) with 47kg.m of peak torque (461 Nm). This R Engine has its power density in excess with 70kw per liter putting the diesel technology at Hyundai in the same class with any leading German carmaker.
The R Engine is the smooth-shifting automatic 6-speed gearbox. Even at highest loads, the engine doesn鈥檛 incur any fuel consumption penalties, this thanks to the high capacity in exhaust gas recirculation that benefits efforts also in reducing NOx emissions. The R Engine鈥檚 assured of meeting upcoming, more stringent standards EU exhaust emission. The R Engine mass production is scheduled to start with the basic (single turbocharged) variant in 2009 with dual-stage turbocharged edition coming in the first part of 2011.
A wireless network it enables a selection of the cable-free keyboards, headphones and game controllers to further personalize the entertainment experience. These advanced developments seen on the amazing i-mode give a dynamic indication of the real possibilities for the close future.
